Just yesterday I saw an online research organization paper on our society's usage of the Social networking sites (SNSs) The research paper conveyed that over 53% of the subjects were currently using one or more SNSs. Among those users 68% actively uesed Cyworld, 17% Facebook, 14% twitter and 4% me2day.
After reading this research paper, I got to think about the SNSs. There are several differnt types of SNSs at this moment but there are new types of SNSs appearing every other second. Everytime new Snss comeout people think or believe that the sites contain a different sturtural or format. But if we look at the contents of the SNSs very carefully the function of SNSs are initially the same. But then, why do we perceive each and every SNSs as an unique product?
Why did we use Buddybuddy, friendster, freechal and cyworld before
but use facebook, twitter and kakao talk now?
Is it because of our 21st century's 'cultural industry'? Where false conception makes us believe in the indifferent differences? Are we too blinded by the mass media that surrounds us? Are we becoming too guillible?
For once, I think that we should try to take a step back from all these technologies and really question ourselves about the diversity we carry and the seriousness and the danger our society's high culture is at...
I've ever laughed very loud when I heard that myspace became my empty space. Perhaps, people are easily bored about something and find the different things. However, do we really need to get back to old days and reject all these technology thing? Moving from cyworld to facebook is not enough argument for getting back to old days. I think it's just like changing fashion style. However, there are obviously many problems about SNS, and I think you need to argue more about those problem to discuss 'all these technology'.
